TIMELESS WORKS THAT KNOW NEITHER FASHION NOR SEASON
Caravana designs timeless pieces that transcend fashion or season. Garments range from Caravana's signature ponchos, dresses, jumpsuits and kaftans to vests, capes, tops, skirts and trousers. CARAVANA should give the wearer the freedom to be her true self and to underline her own movement, sensuality and beauty.
Mexico is steeped in craftsmanship that has been passed on from generation to generation. CARAVANA strives to maintain cultural respect and social responsibility. All pieces and accessories are made by hand in their workshop in Valladolid (Mexico), taking many hours to complete each piece. In a world that is so heavily industrialized, CARAVANA is committed to preserving the magic and traditions of the Mayan culture. Each piece has meaning and purpose, magically and mysteriously revealing the wisdom of their ancestors. CARAVANA studies the ancient knowledge of the shamans and incorporates these concepts into all pieces. The search for culture gives each garment functionality, meaning and magic. Inspired by Jacopo Janniello's determination to find a new way to respect and revive local Mayan crafts, he developed a new alchemy. A reinterpretation of centuries-old processes that includes a unique concept with unique elements that they call "Neo-Artesania" that combines the thoughts and techniques of the past with the latest ideologies of today. Caravana's artisanal processes ensure less waste and mass production. The dye they use is not an industrial dye but a homemade dye made in Mexico which means less environmental impact on nature. They use a leading brand of non-industrial home textile dyes in Mexico. The company they work with is involved in social initiatives such as dye workshops, savings, self-employment for all customers and also develops ecological lines. The dyeing process is also handmade and the supplier's products used are certified non-toxic by the ACM (Art and Creative Materials Institute) from the USA. Why Caravana cares about craftsmanship: Caravana preserves ancient traditions and the culture of art. Caravana values "slow fashion": care and attention to detail mean living in the present, being creative and developing an awareness that appreciates the art of craftsmanship. Caravana supports the lifelong work of artisan communities and the skills of their craft. Craftsmanship means that production is more limited and therefore there is less waste in crafting and mass production.
