WHO IS BEHIND KUJTEN? Kujten is an expression of Carole Benaroya and Stéphanie Eriksson's long-standing friendship, which began when they were teenagers. While at school, Carole and Stéphanie discovered that they were both passionate about fashion. In 2012, due to her financial background, Carole felt the urge to add some passion to her professional life and immediately reached out to her friend Stéphanie. Stéphanie has a keen sense of detail and the beauty of the world and knows her way around the fashion industry. She acquired her knowledge of knitwear and cashmere from her work in the Paris styling department of Joseph, an English fashion house known for its knitwear. Kujten was born out of her love for an extraordinary material: cashmere. Their ambition to start their own cashmere brand was confirmed after a first trip to Mongolia, where they fell in love with the country with the blue sky. THE KUJTEN BRAND With the creation of KUJTEN, Carole and Stéphanie wanted to rewrite the codes for cashmere clothing and focus on quality, color and attention to detail. The name KUJTEN is borrowed from the highest peak of Mongolia, our land of handicrafts, and was a natural choice for the Parisian founders. With our extensive knowledge of knitwear and our commitment to impeccable quality, our aim is to create colourful, contemporary cashmere wardrobes and increasingly edgy collections each season. In line with our values, respect for our Mongolian partners and animals is our guiding principle. On the high plateaus of Mongolia, the Capra Hisca goats have to endure particularly harsh winters with temperatures as low as minus 40 °C. Nature has endowed them with the precious ability to develop a thick, silky soft coat. Beneath their coarse hair outer coat, their long, downy undercoat traps air between tiny spaces in the fibers, creating a natural heat-trapping barrier. This means cashmere goats can withstand even the most extreme weather conditions. When it warms up again, they will molt naturally. Their fur is then combed through to extract cashmere, Mongolia's soft gold. The Capra Hisca goat is the only goat that grows this extraordinary hair. These goats are precious and noble at the same time, because there are only a few regions where they can be bred. Feeling its luscious down is incredibly comforting. Carole and Stéphanie have long fallen in love with this billowy, soft fabric, but wish it came in bolder colours. They also dreamed of modern cuts in terms of style. The creation of Kujten is the answer to their desire to innovate without sacrificing quality, at prices that allow as many people as possible to enjoy this precious substance.
