Design as a homage to origin:
Yosuzi means cactus flower in the Guajiro dialect, which is spoken in the designer's Venezuelan homeland. Yosuzi Sylvester was born and raised in Venezuela. From an early age she was exposed to the original rituals and handicrafts of her homeland. And even today, the designer is fascinated by this craftsmanship. The international jet setter, who studied in Boston and later lived in New York, Los Angeles and London, has never forgotten her origins.

A photo of her grandmother wearing the traditional hat called WOMA inspired Yosuzi to travel to the La Guajira desert in 2014. Together with her mother, she not only brought home touching memories, but also 200 handmade straw hats: the birth of the label. Local artisans now work for Yosuzi and create designs for customers around the world.

The label's logo reflects the designer's connection to her indigenous culture. It is the symbol of the clan from which Yosuzi's family comes, the Aapushana clan. In the past, the women of the clan tattooed this mark on their skin to show their social status. Today it adorns the label's exclusive hats.
